ok, this is me just setting things up.  Future pages will be more organized.

Mermaids and Mermen.

Mermaids need a tail.  I bought $1.99 plastic blue table coverings.  They were already folded into 8’s and the sections were about 18″ wide and about 2′ long.  I drew a mermaid/men tale on one and then cut through all the layers and wa-la I had 8 mermaid tales.  My daughter and I drew fish scales on the bottom part, using 5 different colored sharpies: silver, purple, green, blue, and light blue.  Then I sewed ribbon to the top of the tale, with about 18″ hanging off each side for ties.  I imagine you can fashion plain string on the top.  Just realize they will tear with lots of tugs and pulling.

Make these for parties, for sprinkler days outside, or just for that special someone who loves Ariel!

Now, would you like the ‘usable and eco-conscious’ mermaid tail?  Ok, find a beautiful blue towel, and lay it out.  You can cut then hem the bottom to look like a mermaid tail, then sew a thick (at least 1″ ribbon) to the top or you can add on a tail using another towel or piece of fabric cut and shaped like the bottom of a mermaid tail.  These are great to take to the beach, the pool, or after swimming in the tub!

Mermaid Snacks

Any roll-up sandwich can be maid into a snail.  Example, pb&b(peanut butter and banana) on a tortilla.  Spread your favorite nut butter on a tortilla and place a 1/2 banana(sliced lengthwise) on one side.  Roll up.  Now slice in about 1″ sections.  Unroll 1/2″ and place two raisins or chocolate chips for eyes.  Add two celery strings for antena.  No celery?  Add 2 toothpicks, 2 thinly sliced carrots, zucchini or other vege.  Just look in your fridge and find some antenas!
